Fall in Love with Working out at a the Zoo Health Club

The trick to falling in love with fitness is to do something you enjoy doing. It’s time to uncover your inner athlete! Below you will find some options to help you become more successful at your attempt to get in shape. But first you must consider joining a gym that will make you feel comfortable and one that is affordable like the Zoo Gym!

Here are a few tips:
Buddy Up with another member at the Zoo Health Club! It’s no secret that having a fitness buddy helps get you going. Let’s face it, when your buddy is supposed to meet you at the gym, or your buddy is expecting to train with you, you’re more apt., not hide under the covers and ignore your buddy, especially if you run into him at the Zoo Gym. You can even have a work buddy and take out on a daily lunchtime power walk, you’re less likely to sit at your desk and graze or say NO to your buddy. Better yet; take your lunch at the Zoo Health Club and just meet your buddy there. Success is much easier when shared and when supported by another trying to accomplish the same goals.

Feel Good in New Workout Clothes! Remember the old adage about how when you look good, you feel better? This goes for the gym too. If you buy yourself some fun fitness clothes that you feel good in, you are more likely to have more confidence in yourself and as a result, push yourself harder at the gym. Most of our gyms at the Zoo Health Club have apparel for sale.

Join a Gym You Feel Comfortable In and that would be the Zoo Health Club! If you struggle with intimidation, find a gym that you feel at ease in. Make sure they assist you with understanding the equipment that you will be using and one that caters to all shapes, all sizes and all ages of customers. This you can definitely find at any of our Zoo Gym clubs.

Take Your Little Ones with You! Most mothers never know when they’ll be able to squeeze in a little exercise time while running their kids around all day. Most of our Zoo Health clubs have daycares, kids clubs, and kid’s classes. So if you don’t want to leave your children, you can exercise with them or have them within reach!
Try an aerobic or group class for a workout! Most of our Zoo Health Clubs have different types of classes that are offered ranging from a simple Step Class, to Yoga Classes, Strength Classes, Kickboxing and Pilates. You can join in with new beginners for a more comfortable setting or jump in with those that have been going to classes for years. Joining in a class decreases your chance of boredom.

Hire a personal trainer at the Zoo Health Club, make yourself accountable! The days of hiring a trainer for one hour are a thing of the past. Most trainers are affordable now and can offer a program to fit your needs. Our trainers at the Zoo Health Club are certified personal trainers. Some of our Zoo Gyms offer group training classes with allows you to train with a buddy, create new relationships, share experiences, and share the costs. If your cost is lower, you’re more likely to buy more sessions and stay with your trainer when seeing results.
Take your IPOD to the Zoo Health Club- Try to make it as fun as possible. The staff at the Zoo Gym recommends that you make a few playlists with your favorite songs that get you pumped up. Also realize that the time you spend working out is YOUR time. Use your work outs at the Zoo Gym as a good chance to clear your mind and get your head straight mentally.

Keep track of your progress- As a courtesy to you and our members at the Zoo Gym- we will set you up with a free personal training session and design a workout around your wants, needs and schedule. If you keep track of your progress at the Zoo Gym you will find yourself on the way to success and using the gym much more often.

Enjoy your favorite TV Show at the Zoo Gym- For those that don’t like cardio workouts and struggle with this we make it easier by offering Cardio Theatre in our Zoo Health Clubs. You’re able to watch your favorite TV show, news show or sports show will you burn the calories.

Just as because you’ve never been successful at exercise or you could be one that just doesn’t like it there is hope for you, you can learn to love it! And you can learn to love it at the Zoo Health Club. People who work out on a regular basis enjoy the activity and like the way it makes them feel. You need to find a fitness based activity that not only makes you feel great, but is fun while you do it.

Creating Healthy Lifestyle Habits can be done at the Zoo Gym

Making a lifestyle change in eating habits, along with an exercise program at the franchise gym the Zoo Health Club, is a commitment to be made with a strong mindset. It shows that you are now ready for a change in the way you look and feel. Finding the right health club such as the Zoo Health Club coupled with a program and motivating trainers to fit your lifestyle are key elements for getting started and continued long term benefits. A successful program must start with affordable memberships that can be found at the Zoo Health Club and the next must is for your program to be designed according to fit your schedule, and the goals that you are wanting to achieve.

You can find educated personal trainers at the Zoo Gym which can help educate you on how food and exercise work together, with your body, to get the results you desire and maintaining those results for a lifetime can help you chose a program that suits you best. Creating a timeline for your goals is the first part that the Zoo Gym trainers discuss with you so that you are able to reach with an ultimate date and finale event (like having a professional picture made) can help keep you on track. This will help you focus on your goal without making excuses or deviating from your commitment.

Another key element that the trainers at the Zoo Health club implement is taking a before and after picture. Knowing you will have your picture professionally made on a specific date (that cannot or should not be changed) makes a huge impact on the daily choices you make. Once you have made these choices for several weeks/months, they simply become a habit! It will make you wonder how you ever functioned before.

Below are just a few ideas to help you become successful:

  • Place health and fitness as one of your top priorities and the Zoo Gym can help you accomplish this.
  • Set your ultimate goal and a reasonable timetable to accomplish that goal. Then break your goal down into smaller goals in smaller timetable. Let a trainer from the Zoo Health Club help track your progress. If you take care of the smaller goals, the bigger goal will be accomplished.
  • Create visuals and place them in areas that you will see them often. It can be a picture of yourself at a previous peak fitness level or of someone that is where you want to be. It could be special places you want to travel to once you reach your goals. It could be a new dress or pair of pants that you want to fit into again.
  • Your Zoo Gym trainer will continually educate yourself on nutrition and exercise. Read books, magazines, use the internet to keep your mind motivated and focused on your goal. Try cooking new healthy meals to replace the unhealthy ones. Use moderation, not elimination in the food choices you make.
  • Nutritionists and the Zoo Health Club personal trainers are helpful for being able to understand food labels and what is lacking in your eating habits. They can help you with portion size and caloric intake. One particular trick is to eat off of smaller plates so that it forces you to eat smaller portions.
  • Make a list of the top priorities in your life that will require you to stay healthy. You need to do many things in life, but you won’t be able to do any of these things if you don’t take care of yourself first. The Zoo Gym can offer you affordable memberships so that you can begin your health lifestyle quest.
  • Be patient. You did not get to where you are right now overnight or in one week. It will take more than a week to get where you want to be.
  • Working out with others at the Zoo Gym that are trying to accomplish the same goals is a plus as well.
  • Take a Yoga Class at the Zoo Health Club. Meditation for balancing yourself mentally. Maintaining a healthy weight is a lot of emotional and mental work and meditation is extremely helpful in promoting a balanced and serene mind. It helps you to focus and keep your stress down which is key if you tend to eat in times of stress.
  • Keeping a food journal helps you to understand what is missing in your diet and really helps you to determine where improvements need to be made.
  • Surround yourself with positive people who encourage and cheer you on. You may want to consider working out with a buddy and setting goals with one of our members at the Zoo Health Club.
  • Be creative and find fun active things to do. If you love to workout in a group setting take an aerobic class at the Zoo Health club. The go out and Walk. If there is You can mix it up. You don’t have to stick with one thing. Just be active!

According to Diversified Health and Fitness there are currently a number of clubs under contract to open nationwide including Glastonbury, CT, Orlando, FL and Gonzales, LA just to name a few. The Zoo Health clubs are reporting record numbers of new members signing up every month. This is in part due to the cutting edge marketing efforts put forth by the Zoo Health Club Franchise Corporation. Franchisees benefit from over 30 years of experience in the health and fitness industry.

One of the key features that sets the Zoo Health Clubs apart from the competition is the 24 hour 7 day a week access to all of the clubs. Members can come and work out not only during staffed hours, but have access via security cards any time day or night. Accessibility and convenience are key factors for members looking for a health club.

The Future of Fitness Franchising

Inside Diversified Health and Fitness, Roger Wittenberns has a master plan to redefine the fitness franchising industry.

Ft. Lauderdale – The past 25 years has been a roller coaster ride of club expansions, market segmenting, acquisitions and branding. Should it come as no surprise that the next 25 years may be defined by a company called Diversified Health and Fitness?

Diversified Health and Fitness is the brainchild of Roger Wittenberns. Since Roger’s first introduction to club management with the Jack LaLanne chain, he’s been a man with vision, always looking outside the box. He was one of the first to recognize that women would frequent a coed club, if there were special hours, areas and childcare to accommodate them. That idea led to his creation of the Lady of America franchise chain.

Selling LOA--the second largest women’s only franchise chain--in 2006 gave Roger a well earned break to enjoy his sprawling Miami manse and teenage children. The years in between have seen a major shift in women’s only health clubs and a surge in non-traditional health club offerings including Botox treatments and manicures to fight an overcrowded market.

It’s also seen hundreds of women’s franchise clubs fail either because of the competition, the lack of corporate sales support, the down-turned economy or a combination of all. Roger is betting that when the dust settles the competition will have thinned and creates the opportunity for a new franchise super-giant with a mix of brands: Diversified Health and Fitness.
Defining the Change

“The landscape will continue to change,” says Roger from his Ft. Lauderdale corporate offices. “Right now the recession is reality, and franchise sales have slowed because credit is hard to get and a lot of equity has evaporated. Real estate has taken a big turn. Back in the 80s during the savings and loan crisis they were offering a year free rent and free build outs. In just the last six months we’re starting to see some of those deals return to the negotiation tables, but it’s too early to say.

“Right now we know new sales are flat and by the time you fly someone in, go through the presentation, negotiate a lease and set up financing it just doesn’t make sense,” says Roger. “So we’re approaching it differently. We’re buying up existing locations that are already open and operating, but need to increase membership sales.”

As of this writing, Diversified Health and Fitness has purchased 12 brands that represent nearly 300 locations, mostly in the U.S. Negotiations are under way for the acquisition of two more brands. Fit Zone, Rejuvenate, and the Zoo Co-ed clubs are presently all under the umbrella of Diversified.

With his 35 years experience as a franchisor, and having developed one of the best sales support team in the business, Roger is confident he can increase those memberships, and capitalize on the clubs’ strengths while minimizing their weaknesses.

Does that mean their franchisees will be bought out and replaced?
“Not at all,” says Roger, “I’ve learned not to prejudge people. I had some of the best-looking, well-educated people who turn out to be the most difficult to educate of day-to-day operations, and I've met other folks that are all ears and eyes, not well capitalized, but willing to roll up their sleeves and do all that it takes.”

Will he eventually bring all his clubs under one brand name? “Not likely,” says the franchise leader. “Like our company name reflects, clubs will remain diversified. We have no problem juggling a variety of brands. It’s like Auto Nation, that company purchased 100s of different cars from Toyotas, to Lexus to Hummers and at the end of the day they’re still selling cars.

No matter what the club brand, it’s still the same business. Getting memberships and selling health. Helping people feel better and look better. If we can teach the franchisees to do that, they’ll all be successful.

In an asset purchase, Diversified will acquire all of the assets associated with ShapeXpress, including, but not limited to, franchise agreements, UFOC registrations, area developer agreements, manuals, trade names and other intellectual property.

“This move will allow our brands to grow exponentially,” said Linden Wood, CEO of ShapeXpress. “We are excited to watch Diversified’s expert team of industry professionals take this company and its franchise partners to new heights.”

Diversified Chief Executive Officer, Roger Wittenberns, said “We believe the ShapeXpress acquisition gives our firm many competitive advantages. In the women’s-only fitness arena, we found that the great majority of clubs were small and one dimensional, failing to provide the full line of services and fitness programs that women today want and expect. ShapeXpress and Sedona clubs are designed to allow for a full service fitness facility with many different services and programs to meet the needs of today’s women.”

“The ShapeXpress addition will complement our current operations extremely well”, said Andrew Barnett, Executive Vice President of Diversified. “We have the opportunity to bring our 100 years of fitness, retail and brand development experience to a solid and growing foundation of franchisees. This match will increase their profit potential and add generously to Diversified’s bottom-line.”

Diversified Health and Fitness, Inc. is a franchise holding company for multiple fitness franchise concepts. The company was founded in 2007 and is the brainchild of thirty-five year industry expert Roger Wittenberns.
